More Than Just a Month: Getting Ready for American Heart Month at Work

February is officially here. While many people are thinking about Valentine's Day, those of us in the safety industry are focused on something much closer to our mission: American Heart Month.

This is not just another awareness event on the calendar. According to the latest 2026 data from the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States. Someone loses their life to heart disease every 34 seconds.

At FC Safety, we see these numbers as a call to action. We know that heart health is not just a personal matter. It is a workplace matter. This month, we want to help you move beyond simple compliance and build a true culture of readiness.

Practical Steps for Your Team This Month

Awareness is a good start, but action is what saves lives. Here are four things your company can do right now to make an impact during American Heart Month.

  • Celebrate National Wear Red Day. This falls on Friday, February 6, 2026. It is a simple way to start a conversation about heart disease in women, which accounts for one in three deaths annually. Encourage your team to wear red and share why readiness matters.
  • Conduct an AED Audit. An AED is only a lifesaver if it works when you pull it off the wall. Check your battery expiration dates and ensure your pads are not past their prime. Our FC Safety Shield technology can help you track this, but a manual check today is a great first step.
  • Refresh Your Training. Confidence is the key to a successful rescue. If your employees have not practiced CPR or used an AED trainer in the last year, their skills may be rusty. Consider scheduling a refresher course this month.
  • Highlight the Chain of Survival. Make sure your team knows the steps: early recognition, calling 911, immediate CPR, and rapid defibrillation. Knowledge is the best tool for reducing the fear of acting in an emergency.

Why Workplace Readiness Matters

We often hear from business owners who worry they might do the wrong thing during a cardiac emergency. One of the most important lessons our team has learned over the years is that doing something is always better than doing nothing.

Modern AEDs are designed to guide you through every step with voice prompts. They will not deliver a shock unless the person actually needs it. By providing the right equipment and training, you are giving your employees the power to be the difference between a tragedy and a success story.

Follow Along with Our Veterans

Throughout the rest of February, we are doing something special. We are turning the microphone over to the longtime veterans here at FC Safety. These are people who have spent decades in the medical equipment and safety training industry.

They will be sharing their personal stories, industry "pro-tips," and insights on how safety technology has evolved to become more user friendly than ever. You can find these updates on our LinkedIn and other social media channels.

If you need to update your equipment, restock your first aid kits, or book a training session, you can find everything you need on our main site. Let's make 2026 the year your workplace becomes fully prepared.
