- Requirement: It’s often asked whether or not First Aid kits or cabinets are required, and the answer can be found from the following OSHA requirement: 1910.151(b). In the absence of an infirmary, clinic, or hospital in near proximity to the workplace which is used for the treatment of all injured employees, a person or persons shall be adequately trained to render first aid. Adequate first aid supplies shall be readily available.
- What should I have in my kit/cabinet: OSHA often refers employers to the following standard as a best practices solution for requirements if a company does not have an infirmary: ANSI/ISEA Z308.1-2015 establishes minimum performance requirements for first aid kits and their supplies that are intended for use in various work environments. ANSI Compliant kits are now split into two categories: Class A (for common workplace environments) and Class B (for more populated, complex, and high-risk environments).
